The PGCB recently reported the September 2023 performance of Pennsylvania’s gambling operators.

The regulator highlighted a total revenue of 476 million dollars for the state’s gambling industry in September, which represented a 6.2% increase from the sector’s performance in the same month in the year prior. This led to a total tax revenue of just under 198 million dollars, up by around 9% from last year’s tax revenue of 182 million dollars.

Breaking down the market’s performance by various game types and verticals, Pennsylvania’s land-based slot terminals generated the most revenue at just shy of 200 million dollars, up by 0.7% from last year’s figure of 198.5 million dollars. The closely related land-based table games niche, on the other hand, experienced an almost 8% decline in the month, going from 81.6 million dollars in 2022 to 75.2 million dollars this year.

The largest decline was recorded by the state’s sports betting operators, as the pastime experienced a 27% decrease from last year’s revenue of 50.2 million dollars to 36.6 million dollars. In contrast, Pennsylvania’s online gambling operators experienced massive increases in their revenues for the month of September, with online slots generating 114.7 million dollars in the period, more than 47% higher year-over-year. Online table games followed in second place in terms of growth at 31.6% and a revenue of 42.3 million dollars.
