Ukraine’s Setka Cup opens new location

The biggest table tennis development platform in Ukraine, better known as the Setka Cup, has announced the opening of its new location in Lviv.

The new rooms at the 2,730m2 venue, which is located in the western portion of the country, are all named after the most prominent cities in ping-pong history: London and Beijing. Beijing is the largest of all the rooms in the Setka Cup and it measures 8×16 metres.

In a comment on the new location, tournament organizer of the Setka Cup, Denys Kalachevskyi, stated:

“This new location enables us to hold tournaments of all levels. In addition, we will expand the table tennis community, which already consists of more than 550 rated players and 5,000 fans. We have 24/7 live streaming, and up to seven table tennis games happen simultaneously. Our athletes don’t play more than three days in a row and can’t participate in more than one tournament per day. It helps to avoid sports injuries and professional burnout. And, of course, we comply with all the quarantine rules and check the health of our players daily.

The Setka Cup, which is notorious for advancing to stage matches despite the Covid-19 pandemic halting a majority of the world’s sporting events last spring, puts on a minimum of 6,500 matches every single month. All the matches are dynamic and have an average duration of 30 minutes. Each game can have up to 20 betting markets, since it has live analytics and in-depth player statistics available.

Only three people are allowed to be inside a room during the game. The three consist of two players and one referee. This rule is present in order to avoid any type of influence on players and any possible interference in the game’s outcome.
