KSA to initiate slot terminal inspections

The Kansspelautoriteit has recently announced that it will be carrying out inspections of slot terminals across the country.

The KSA’s latest round of inspections across the Netherlands will begin in the middle of the month, with slot terminals being its main focus. The authority will be examining the regulatory compliance of these machines across the country, paying extra attention to operators’ obligation to provide their players with safe and responsible gambling experiences.

The Kannspelautoriteit mentioned in its announcement that in April of 2021, the obligation of slot arcade operators was expanded to include a duty to prevent and minimize the prevalence of problematic gambling behaviors and addictions as much as possible. The regulator added that its latest round of inspections will also focus on this aspect, ensuring that licensed operators adequately prevent gambling addictions among Dutch players.

Lastly, the Kansspelautoriteit mentioned that following the completion of the new inspections, it will publish a new post summarizing the findings of this latest round.

This announcement follows less than a week after the regulator launched a set of research initiatives funded by the country’s addiction prevention fund aimed at further enhancing the safety of the country’s gambling market.
