Genius Sports and Basketball Africa League team up

Headquarters in the UK, Genius Sports continues to grow its brand awareness all over the world. The leading sports stats provider has announced the new deal with the League. As stated in the contract Genius will become BAL’s exclusive real-time data supplier.

Genius Sports is not a new name in basketball. Since 2004 Genius and FIBA with its various partners have a large history of cooperation. And now Genius’s LiveStats data mechanism created with the International Basketball Federation is to collect data right from the courtside during the BAL’s games.

Basketball fans will be offered comprehensive game data about ongoing matches. LiveStats tool will contribute to BAL’s overall digital modernization plan.

The Chief Executive Officer of Genius Sports, Mr. M. Locke stresses that

FIBA and Genius Sports share a common goal – the development of basketball. Furthermore, Genius Sports will assist the Basketball Africa League to enhance its digital capabilities and reach.

The debut of the partnership is Basketball Africa League that started on May 16th in Kigali and will last till May 30th. During the tournament 16 African team will compete for the win in Basketball Africa League, organized by FIBA in collaboration with NBA.

Earlier in May Genuis’s global expansion was marked by the purchase of Second Spectrum INC., exclusive stats partner of major American and British sports tournaments. The investment cost the sports content creator 200mln USD.

Last month Genius Sports listed on the Wall Street Stock exchange. The company’s first financial report in a status of a public corporation indicated 30% profit growth.
