Nick Candy boosts his offer to purchase Chelsea F.C.
Nick Candy, a lifelong Chelsea fan and a British millionaire, has raised his bid to purchase the club quite high.
The additional funds, which led Candy to upgrade its previously proposed offer, were gathered through a South Korean financial backer.
Candy’s proposal to Raine Group on Friday was bolstered by South Korean backers Hana Financial Group and C&P Sports Group. The British millionaire has now boosted his position in the hopes of making Raine’s shortlist – a NY bank, which announced on Monday evening about the list of bidders being as few as three parties.
The proposed funds by Candy amounted to £2 billion last Friday. However, since Candy has boosted the amount of money through another big Korean backer during the weekend, the numbers have changed now. According to Candy’s representative the Raine Group has received confirmation of the extra funds.
On March 2, Roman Abramovich, a billionaire Russian oligarch and politician, as well as the owner of Chelsea, put the club up for sale.
