TAB NZ CEO Mike Tod steps down as Entain deal gets approved

Mike Tod will be stepping down from his position as TAB NZ’s Chief Executive.

This announcement follows shortly after the company received ministerial approval to proceed with its collaboration with Entain, which is going to be a multi-decade strategic partnership involving the latter’s wagering and streaming services. TAB NZ has already assigned a new CEO, the company’s current General Counsel, Nick Roberts. In his new role, Roberts will be responsible for helping the firm in facilitating its recently approved agreement.

The Chairman of TAB NZ’s Board, Mark Stewart, remarked:

“Nick played an instrumental role in helping our company secure the collaboration with Entain. His vast experience in the gambling industry, along with his extensive knowledge of New Zealand’s legal landscape and our contract with Entain, make him an excellent candidate to lead our team during the upcoming transition.”

TAB NZ’s newly appointed CEO, Nick Roberts, commented:

“New Zealand’s racing sector has managed to maintain its leading position worldwide despite facing funding challenges. It’s an industry that contributes significantly to the country’s economy, both financially and in terms of providing employment, and our recently approved collaboration with Entain will further enhance its global presence.”

Nick Roberts will be taking over the role of TAB NZ’s CEO starting from the 1st of June, in just over a week.
