In a recent blog post, the UKGC talked about the importance of detailed operator data and shared how it aims to collect it in the future.

The blog post, authored by the Director of the UKGC’s Insight and Engagement initiative, Ben Haden, highlighted two main techniques the UKGC will be utilizing to achieve its enhanced data collection goals, starting with improving the set of data it already collects from licensed operators. Haden wrote that the UKGC thinks several items can be removed from this set due to their age and lack of relevance, while many others need to receive a bump in their collection frequencies.

The second point covered in the blog post involved an enhanced set of data to be collected from operators on a daily aggregated basis, instead of per each customer transaction. Haden mentioned that the UKGC thinks this type of data collection will enable it to better interpret the effects of various regulatory changes, especially the proposals introduced by the UK government’s gambling legislation white paper which will be implemented in the near future.

Haden added that these projects are only the beginning of the regulator’s efforts to better make use of the data of its licensed operators and that both of them will be worked on before their widespread rollout.
