Star Entertainment hires David Foster as Chairman

David Foster will be taking over Star Entertainment’s Chairman position from Ben Heap amid the company’s regulatory troubles.

The transition will be effective at the end of March, at which point the new appointee will take over. Having joined the company in December of 2022 as a board member, Foster will be an excellent candidate to replace the current chairman.

The Star’s current Chairman, Ben Heap remarked:

“The company’s management team has been evolving constantly for the past few months, as we appointed a few directors, a new Chief Executive Officer, and more. I would like to thank our team for my time as chairman at the Star. I am certain that the business will continue to grow and will be able to further solidify its leading position in the Australian gambling market.”

The new appointee, David Foster stated:

“Ben had quite a significant role in the development of our company. During his time, he helped with the hiring of the firm’s new Chief Executive Officer and a few board members. I am excited to have this opportunity to take over his position to lead our board and help our team reach new heights.”

This news follows a recent announcement in December where the company disclosed that Heap will be stepping down. Moreover, at around the same time, Australia’s Securities and Investments Commission started court cases against 11 current and past Star Entertainment directors, including Ben Heap.

Furthermore, it also follows a series of other troublesome events for the corporation. Recently, Star Entertainment pleaded guilty to a list of violations in a Queensland court, which is likely going to result in severe fines for the company. It also got penalized over 100 million Australian dollars back in October of 2022 for AML shortcomings in New South Wales.
